Experience
Are you called to the mission?
The primary objective of Engage is to give students an opportunity for hands-on experience in missions.
Therefore, student ministries complement academic study with essential practical training in Christian service under the direction of career missionaries in locations around the world. Opportunities will vary, but all will combine ministries of compassion, evangelism, and discipleship. Students will also have the opportunity to work with the national church.
Alaska Engage (Opens 2011)
Students will assist with church planting and the development of youth ministries within the interior regions.
Dominican Republic Engage (Opens Fall 2010)
Working in partnership with the Dominican Master's Commission, students will have opportunity to minister in a children's home, street outreaches, participate in kids camps and retreats, work with American teams and national youth events. There will be opportunities for video editing, use of musical talents and teaching and/or mentoring in English. Engage students will also travel to the neighboring country of Haiti for a ministry outreach.
Engage Paris (France) (Opens 2011)
Students at Engage Paris will be involved in ministry (children, youth, teams, small groups, worship, media) while working to plant churches with The Bridge, an English-speaking international church and ministry center in Paris. Students will have the opportunity to serve in the church, new church plants and cultural center, and be mentored by missionary church planters.
Engage Greece (Opens Fall 2010)
The Greece site is unique in that students will have the opportunity to work in the marketplace of Thessaloniki in an operating coffee shop. Students will have the chance to teach English, lead/participate in young adult small groups, and host events in the shop. The Greece site is also developing children and youth programs among the country's national churches. Students will promote social justice issues, partnering with an anti-human trafficking organization as well as serving in gypsy refugee camps. A shorter program of three months, this site is ideal for students who are involved in sports, music, or leadership activities on their home college campus and cannot spend as much time abroad. Students will walk in the footsteps of the Apostle Paul while having the opportunity to make their own impact.
Engage Guadalajara (Mexico) (Currently Open)
Guadalajara, known as "The Heart of Darkness," is a city of nearly 10 million people, with less than 2% identifying themselves as evangelical Christians. Engage students can be a light through a weekly outdoor children's ministry, at a boy's home and orphanage, local youth centers, outreach to the homeless, women's rehabilitation home, and university campus ministry groups. Opportunities will also arise to serve the national church through weekly attendance and involvement throughout the city. Students will also gain experience by hosting teams from the US.
Nicaragua Engage (Opens Fall 2010)
The people of Nicaragua have been torn by war, natural disasters and extreme poverty for many years. Engage students will have the opportunity to serve by working along side local churches in Nicaragua, helping with evangelism teams from the US, camps, feeding programs, youth outreaches, compassion ministries and a children’s center located just outside the city dump. Each student will be able to use his or her natural talents in daily ministry. Students will have many opportunities to travel to remote areas sharing Christ’s love and restoring hope throughout Nicaragua.
Southern Asia Engage (Opens Fall 2010)
With about 13 million people living in the capital city alone, and less than 1% calling themselves Christian, creative ways must be used for outreach. Students will have the opportunity to be engaged in many different aspects of ministry. A few of these include media, children, youth, student & campus ministries. The goal is to give each student a broad experience with various kinds of ministries, and to also use the student's natural talents & skills as they relate to specific ministries.
